What is Meenamma Farms?
Meenamma Farms produces organic, value-added foods that are fresh, clean and distinctly tied to the Indian ethos.
Our line of organic pickles and jams are produced at our farm and from the produce grown on our farm. Our first experimentation with pickles started with the traditional mango, made from ripe local mangoes indigenous to this region of Maharashtra.

Meenamma Farms is located just outside Kamshet village, on the banks of the Kamshet lake, and spans close to five acres. When the land was bought back in 2001, it was arid, rocky and difficult to walk on. The local farmers were convinced nothing could come off the land. Fifteen years of hands-on work and planning later, the farm today produces several hundred kilos of fruits and vegetables annually.

What is the Meenamma Farms philosophy?
Part of the ethos that is critical to Meenamma Farms are the ideas of regeneration and the circular economy. The owners understand that in order to ensure long-term gain for society, sustainability is critical to the success of the farm.

Today, the totally organic farm has solar power, its own vermiculture compost pit, and has succeeded in attracting birds and animals back to the region. Species like the Hornbill, the Kingfisher and Sunbird had abandoned the area long ago due to its aridness, and today, fill the farm with their song.

Who is Meenamma?

Meenamma Farms is run by a mother-daughter duo and is is named after Meenakshi (the mother) whose sweat, blood and tears have gone into making this farm a reality. The "amma" in the name is a nod to the family's South Indian roots and a tribute to the hard-working ammas before us, who have passed on their food, tradition, love, strength and legacy.
